Lifting inspection questions
What equipment do you inspect?
We inspect round slings, flat slings, chain slings, shackles, hooks, chain blocks, lever blocks, lifting clamps and ladders. If you're not sure whether something is covered, pick Something else on the form and ask.
Who does the inspections?
All our inspectors worked as professional riggers and dogmen before becoming inspectors. They used this equipment every day on real jobs, so they know what wear, damage and misuse look like.
Do you inspect equipment you didn't buy from us?
Yes. We inspect the gear you already have, whatever brand it is and wherever it came from.
How often should our equipment be inspected?
It depends on the equipment, how hard it's worked and what the manufacturer requires. We set a schedule with you, and a program keeps the visits on the calendar so nothing falls out of date.
What happens to equipment that fails?
It's written up with photos and listed for removal from service, so you have a record of what was pulled and why. We quote a replacement from our catalogue at your trade rates, and we can supply it.
How much does an inspection cost?
We charge a flat hourly rate for time on site, lower than our competitors', whether it's a once-off inspection or a program. Is the free site assessment an inspection?
No. We walk the site with you, count your equipment and look at your records and tags, then give you a one-page summary and a quote. Nothing is inspected, tagged or passed on the day.
