About this product
The Mongoose D-Lite Shackle 500t is the biggest connector in the D-Lite range, built for heavy vehicle towing, recovery and salvage where a conventional steel shackle would be unmanageable. It carries a minimum breaking load of 500t at a weight of 47.0kg, roughly half what a comparable steel shackle would put in your hands. Body dimensions run 630mm long and 420mm wide, with a 145mm bow opening and a 95mm pin.
The crown uses a hydrophobic fibre that holds its strength around tight radius bends, so it works where a rigid bow would bind. An integrated locking end cap keeps the pin captive and allows up to 10 degrees of off-centre loading. The high tensile steel alloy pin suits most OEM recovery points. Being synthetic, it carries far less stored energy than steel, so the failure risk is nothing like an exploding shackle.
