The 3M FT-12 Sodium Saccharin Fit Test Solution is the sweet tasting test solution used with the 3M FT-10 qualitative fit test kit, so you can check the seal on negative pressure respirators. It suits disposable and reusable half face respirators, the sort of gear worn daily on site and underground. The 55ml bottle is the replacement stock for the solution that comes with the kit, keeping your fit testing program running without buying a whole new kit.
Fit testing with saccharin is quick. The wearer sits under the hood, the solution is nebulised, and if they taste the sweetness the mask is not sealing. Fit testing forms part of AS/NZS 1715:2009. Keep in mind a small number of people cannot taste saccharin at all, and those workers need the bitter Bitrex solution instead. Which one you use otherwise comes down to preference.
