About this product
The Donaghys 12 Strand UHMwPE Soft Shackle in the 300t size is a hand knotted fibre shackle that replaces metal snap and screw shackles on heavy connections. It carries a break load of 309.4 tonnes, the largest in the range, with a 2.5m open length and a finished diameter of 120mm. At 19kg it is still a two hand lift, but nothing like the steel it stands in for, and it needs no tools to fit or adjust.
Made from 12 strand UHMwPE winchline, it will not rust or corrode, and it stays soft against paintwork, decks and rigging it sits alongside. If it does let go, it will not shatter and throw fragments the way a metal shackle can. This one comes covered, so the protective sleeve takes the abrasion in rough conditions. It was developed alongside the Donaghys Mongoose Recovery Strop range for connecting strops and slings to vehicles.
