This size is cut for 8mm wire rope, with a 7.9mm groove (A), a 22mm D dimension and 33mm overall height. Swage or splice the eye around it and the rope holds its shape under load instead of flattening against a pin or shackle.

Hot dipped galvanising gives the thimble a thick zinc coat, so it handles outdoor work, wash down and coastal air better than a bare steel fitting. It complies to AS1138. Match the thimble to the rope diameter every time, because an oversized groove lets the rope shift and a tight one distorts the eye. Check for cracks, spread legs or a chewed groove before reuse.
