About this product
The Beaver Hot Dipped Galvanised Commercial Bow Shackle in 8mm is a small screw pin shackle used as a connection link or attachment point on non-lifting jobs. It is the second smallest in the range, with a 7.8mm pin diameter, a 16mm jaw opening and a 31mm inside length, so it suits light work where a bigger body would just get in the way. Overall it measures 24mm across the bow and 18mm wide.
Made from steel and hot dipped galvanised, it holds up to weather and salt air better than a bare finish, which is why these get used on shade sails, boats and around farms. The screw pin makes connecting and disconnecting quick by hand. Worth repeating: this is a commercial shackle, not rated for lifting, so keep it off the crane hook and use a rated lifting shackle for any load.
Common questions
- can you use Beaver commercial bow shackles for lifting
- No. These commercial shackles are not recommended for lifting and should only be used as an attachment point or connection link. Use a rated lifting shackle for any load.
- what size pin does an 8mm commercial bow shackle have
- The 8mm size has a 7.8mm pin diameter, with a 16mm jaw opening and 31mm inside length.
- are galvanised bow shackles ok for marine use
- The hot dipped galvanised finish gives corrosion protection, so these are commonly used in marine, shade sail, agricultural and general purpose applications.
