The Beaver Grade L Galvanised Short Link Chain 8mm is a tested commercial chain for mooring lines, anchor chain and general marine restraint work. It carries a working load limit of 0.64t, or 640kg, which makes this the mid-weight option in the range when 6mm is too light and 10mm is more chain than the job needs. Link dimensions run 27mm outside length by 23.8mm outside width on 8mm material, so it feeds through most winches and sheaves sized for short link.
Material is Grade 30 low carbon steel with a galvanised finish for salt water and exposed outdoor service. The chain complies with the requirements of AS 2321. Note that Grade L is not recommended for lifting, so keep it to mooring and anchoring duties and use a rated lifting chain where loads go overhead. At 69.9m/100kg, it is easy to work out roughly what weight you are handling on deck.
