About this product
The Beaver Galvanised Proof Coil Chain Long Link 8mm is a non-rated commercial chain for general purpose jobs around the yard, the site or the shed. It is made from low carbon steel with a galvanised finish, and the 8mm size runs 8mm material diameter with a 41.2mm link length and 31.9mm link width. The long link profile leaves plenty of room for hooks, pins and fittings to pass through.
At 78.1m per 100kg, the 8mm sits in the middle of the range, heavier and stronger in the hand than the smaller sizes without the bulk of the larger ones. Use it for fencing, gates, barriers, tie downs and similar restraint work. It carries no working load limit and it is not to be used for lifting. If you need to lift, step up to a rated grade chain instead.
Common questions
- can you use 8mm proof coil chain for lifting
- No. Proof coil chain is non-rated and the supplier states it is not suitable for lifting purposes. Use a rated lifting chain for that work.
- what is proof coil chain made of
- Low carbon steel with a galvanised finish, which gives it some protection against rust in outdoor use.
- what does long link mean on 8mm chain
- The links are longer than standard, 41.2mm long by 31.9mm wide on the 8mm size, so hooks and fittings pass through more easily.
